Prudhoe Bay oil field was discovered March 12^th, 1968.  The field is the largest in North America, and covers 213, 543 acres.  Greater Prudhoe Bay field originally held 25 billion barrels of oil and 26 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. An 800 mile heated pipeline had to be built across arctic tundra to move the oil to the Port of Valdez where it could be loaded onto tanker ships and delivered to the lower 48 by sea. Production began June 6^th, 1977 when the Trans Alaska Pipeline was completed.  At its peak, Prudhoe Bay delivered 2 million barrels of oil per day. The field has created thousands of high paying American jobs and helped to create the highest standard of living in the world.  This project produced no losers and stands as one example among thousands that have made America exceptional.

1. Do you think it would be possible to drill Prudhoe Bay, or build the Trans-Alaska Pipeline if we were trying to do it today?

Natural gas is tasteless, odorless, highly explosive, yet it is piped into about half of the homes in America. It is the most abundant domestic fuel source we have, and our reliance on natural gas will grow for as far into the future as we can see.

2. If we were trying to pipe this efficient clean burning fuel into our homes for the 1^st time today, would we be allowed to?

Sadly today, the answer to these two questions would be, “probably not”.  At least not without creating entire government agencies, staffed with thousands of bureaucrats, complete with new counterproductive taxes.

I want change too, but not to something new, rather I want to change to something old and familiar.
